This month’s Dubcast is from a special guest – New York’s #1 Selector – Don Orgone with his very special Cyclology selection and mix mashing together many many different styles and influences into the mix. Enjoy! Download Cyclology is the study of cycles or, the mathematics of history. The knowledge of perfect numbers goes back to the mists of antiquity. It was used in Chaldea and very early Egypt. The definitive writings on this subject date from Thales, who lived from 640 to 547 B.C. His pupil Pythagoras (580-500 B.C.), the author of famous theorems, traveled to Egypt where this education was completed by the priests of Ra at Heliopolis and Memphis. These heirs to the greatest sacred mysteries taught him the value of the Sirius Cycle.…

How to make a dub? Legendary dub-reggae pioneer, Scientist, shows the process.

November 2010. London. Though the weather was grey, the mood inside the Red Bull Music Academy studio on Tooley Street was tropical, as we were blessed by the presence of legendary dub-reggae producer, Scientist. In a lead up to a nighttime concert at Fabric, Scientist strolled through the studio with The Upsetters band to show how to mix a dub track. For heavens sake, thank goodness we filmed this.

Barry Issac – Many Things A Gwan / version

Another classic via wikidub Barry Issac on scintillating form on this track “Many things a gwan” taken from the album called “African News”. The whole album is pure quality with exemplary musicianship from the Reggae On Top AllStars featuring Barry himself and his longtime cohorts Hughie Izachaar and Dougie Wardrop. The whole LP (available on cd too) is awesome, not a dud track in there. Available on the Reggae On Top label, “African News” is a one of the standout roots and culture records of 2010. I urge you to buy a copy while it’s still around, you won’t be disappointed. Each tune comes with a killer dub.
