Dubokaj – Alpine Dub

Posted by: dublinator Posted onDecember 8, 2016 Comments: 0

This is a lovely mini-documentary to accompany Dubokaj’s LP from earlier this year. Focusing on their production method, it presents a factual and useful “behind the scenes” account of how analog methods in making dub music are still applied and useful in the digital age. Dubokaj aka Daniel Jakob is a producer, self taught multi-instrumentalist, and Dub scientist. He started working professionally as a musician back in the mid-nineties. Over the years he had been involved in everything from Hip Hop, Italo Pop, Dubby Electronica, all the way through to movie scoring.

The Copan Connection: Bixiga 70 Meets Victor Rice | machado-dub

Posted by: dublinator Posted onSeptember 16, 2016 Comments: 0

Visitors to dub.com may be familiar with Victor Rice and the great dub tracks he’s brought to the world. Since his move to South America he’s continued to explore the connection between music with roots on boths sides of the Atlantic and after mixing Bixiga 70’s ‘III’ he’s bringing his dubmaster lense to it. The Copan Connection: Bixiga 70 meets Victor Rice. Whereas “III” was a highly contemporary take on the Afro-Brazilian, “Black Atlantic” musical conversation, The Copan Connection looks northward from Brazil to Jamaica, and embraces the repeat-echo history of dub music as its inspiration.
