How to make a dub? Legendary dub-reggae pioneer, Scientist, shows the process.

November 2010. London. Though the weather was grey, the mood inside the Red Bull Music Academy studio on Tooley Street was tropical, as we were blessed by the presence of legendary dub-reggae producer, Scientist. In a lead up to a nighttime concert at Fabric, Scientist strolled through the studio with The Upsetters band to show how to mix a dub track. For heavens sake, thank goodness we filmed this.

Barry Issac – Many Things A Gwan / version

Another classic via wikidub Barry Issac on scintillating form on this track “Many things a gwan” taken from the album called “African News”. The whole album is pure quality with exemplary musicianship from the Reggae On Top AllStars featuring Barry himself and his longtime cohorts Hughie Izachaar and Dougie Wardrop. The whole LP (available on cd too) is awesome, not a dud track in there. Available on the Reggae On Top label, “African News” is a one of the standout roots and culture records of 2010. I urge you to buy a copy while it’s still around, you won’t be disappointed. Each tune comes with a killer dub.
